Most black men express an interest in remaining single, and many black women are fed up going solo. According the U.S. Census Bureau African Americans are less likely than any other group to get married.
I recently attended an event on May 14, 2010 at the Bronzeville Coffee and Tea, located in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood. The event was hosted by association Gap- an club created and founded by Ceo Ebony McGee. The club was created to promote salutary dialogue between men and women bridging the communication gap. Rgap participants included primarily single men and women ranging in age from late 20s to late 30s.

Topics discussed were as broad as the age range of the participants and were as random as, "would you date a man without a comprehensive 401K?" "When married how often should couples have sex?" "If black women like to receive oral sex why don't they like to give it (oral sex)?" The answers were sometimes just as simple and trivial as the questions asked.
Those that were in attendance were encouraged to unblemished a questionnaire which would allow participants the chance to recap in information a man in the room for whom they were interested in getting to know better. It imperative they be exact when completing the questionnaire -- tall, brown hair, wearing blue jeans, yellow shirt, etc.
After identifying a man of interest, a invite was made that the suitor ask the man questions anonymously, excluding the examine of a person's dating status which was to be asked by the evening's moderator. Also, the man completing the questionnaire should also contribute things he/she would like to share about him or herself.
I personally dreaded the idea of being summoned or not summoned to be interrogated in front of a group of about 50 population for whom I did not know intimately, and asked personal questions, but all was endured in the name of love.
Overall, it was an piquant evening. The men were in jovial moods, the women more serious. A female participant at the end of the evening encouraged the men and women to unite on purpose, putting the more superficial elements of relationships aside. More Rgap events are scheduled in July.
